Funimation

I have been CRAVING Naruto!!
I love that show, the Japanese version, obviously. It is however very interesting to me to watch the English version of episodes I have already seen and see if anything gets lost in translation.
It is amazing how they can take the same footage and put English words to it and have the mouths still seem like they are saying the correct words. Not like old kung Fu movies...which I also love.
But I do like to hear the subtleties of language. Naruto says this phrase which I will attempt to spell phonetically: Tay-Buy-Yo. And it is soo fun to say in Japanese. In the English versions Naruto says "believe it" in place of taybuyyo, ant it sounds soo weird and funny. No one knows what it really means, says the internet, because it I more of a dialect flourish and alerts Japanese speakers to the fact that Naruto is country or uncouth.
Anyhow, the show is just amazing. Drama action and lots of comedy. The villains: top notch. And cool voices to boot!! Just YouTube Orochimaru, you'll see! My best friend actually has a Naruto tattoo. A curse mark, which gives you almost immeasurable strength...the point is, my best friend is super cool. Thanks for reading :)

I forgot this was TV!

For some odd reason I don't consider sports to be TV.
I realized that because I was brain storming trying to figure out what to blog about and I thought ?I hadn’t watched any TV all weekend. But I did! I watched the All-star competition last night! Not only that but I had my own dunk contest with the friends I was watching with...but that’s a story for another time lol.
But I guess sports are the only reality TV I watch. And it’s weird to classify it as reality TV because it actually is real. Whereas, contrary to its name, “reality” TV is mostly not real. Maybe Live TV would be a better way of describing it.
I wonder how everyone else classifies sports as a broadcast because I know for certain it doesn’t seem like television programming to me. Maybe it’s the lack of drama or plot line.
The bottom line is SPORTS IS NOT TV!!I guess its closer to a news broadcast.

Really guys?!?

Why did no one tell me how amazing The Following was?!?!
I mean yeah no one likes Kevin Bacon and his nose distracts from the story line; but nostrils aside: This. Show. Is. Awesome.
It started out like every other horror story.
Well I mean I don't think there is a serial killer based hour long drama out there, but it did follow the plot line for all the serial killer movies and books I have ever read.
Right until the end. The biggest twist ever! My jaw dropped. And I wish I could tell you what it was but just in case you haven’t seen it...I would prefer not to spoil it for you, since I hate when people do it.
But seriously! Check it out. The first 3 episodes are on demand.

The Office

On the subject of "funny shows" I am watching The Office. I am currently on season 7, and there are only 9 seasons, so I am close. I never really paid attention to the show before now (my sister forced me to watch it in its entirety) but it is reallllyyyyy funny!
The character of Michael Scott, I absolutely HATE. He is completely self-destructive and just plain old foolish. He actually makes me upset sometimes, kind of like Patrick on Sponge bob. The situations are ridiculous.
I have become addicted to it though and I recommend it to anyone who will listen. But most people don't give the show a chance, because they think it is dry humor...but it can get pretty wet some times.
That's what she said.

Cartoons!

So I sort of just saw a blog post from one of my class mates. Not sure whose it was. But I didn’t read the whole post...or even really start to read it but from what I scanned it said are cartoons really even for children anymore.
And that is something I have been discussing for a long while. My sister, who is older than me, forces me to watch Adventure Time and Regular Show with her; Gumball as well. But Gumball is pretty child appropriate I think. Regular Show has never seemed to be a kids cartoon. The first episode featured a limerick in which the main characters sang "Don't look at our crotches while we synchronize our watches" which I didn't think was very appropriate! The show hasn’t been hyper sexual ever since, but it really set the tone.
Adventure Time was pretty OK at first. But one of the main characters Jake got a girlfriend. And then got her pregnant and had babies. On a children's cartoon! They don't elaborate on how exactly she got pregnant however. They don't get married or anything either, which can be looked at as promoting the modern view of family, which is not wrong. Just different; and not something I expected out of a cartoon.
