I forgot this was TV!
For some odd reason I don't consider sports to be TV.
I realized that because I was brain storming trying to figure out what to blog about and I thought ?I hadn’t watched any TV all weekend. But I did! I watched the All-star competition last night! Not only that but I had my own dunk contest with the friends I was watching with...but that’s a story for another time lol.
But I guess sports are the only reality TV I watch. And it’s weird to classify it as reality TV because it actually is real. Whereas, contrary to its name, “reality” TV is mostly not real. Maybe Live TV would be a better way of describing it.
I wonder how everyone else classifies sports as a broadcast because I know for certain it doesn’t seem like television programming to me. Maybe it’s the lack of drama or plot line.
The bottom line is SPORTS IS NOT TV!!I guess its closer to a news broadcast.

I find that sometimes sports can be similar to reality TV. Maybe some parts are rigged or dramatized for TV. One could argue that this year's super bowl blackout was planned just to create tension and gain ratings. Like a wrestling match where the outcome is predetermined but the storyline and underdog wins create the intense crowd. In your defense, sports broadcasters are used to announce the game plays and such, times vary as to how long the game will be played, etc.
ReplyDeleteThat is true; the games can be super dramatic! And I often wonder if the end result is predetermined. Are the players in on this? Are we the audience the only ones who don't know...ahh conspiracy theory. I can however see this being true!
